Welcome to the 2019 Marching Virginians MV For a Day event! On this day, The Marching Virginians welcome high school students from all over to join us on the field for a halftime performance in Lane Stadium. Last year we hosted students from 5 states and over 30 schools!
This year’s MV For a Day event will take place during our home season opener against ODU on September 7th. Tickets for student participants are $40, which includes admission to the game, lunch, a commemorative t-shirt, and a chance to perform halftime for nearly 66,000 fans. We look forward to having you on campus for a great day of Hokie football and The Marching Virginians experience!

When can we register for this event?
Registration opens June 18th and will close August 26th. Registration will NOT reopen after it has closed!
What do students need to bring?
Students should bring their instrument, marching band uniform, lyre, and flip book with music printed out from this website. Rain gear and money for concessions are also recommended!
What if we require ADA accommodations?
If your student requires ADA seating or other accommodations on game day, please indicate this on your registration or contact us at MVForaDay@gmail.com so we can help make arrangements. If family or other guests require ADA seating, they must make arrangements for themselves through the Athletics Ticket Office.
How can parents and other guests purchase tickets?
What time should students arrive at the Marching Virginians Center (MVC)?
Students should plan on arriving between 7:30AM and 8:30AM on game day. Check here for a full schedule as we get closer to the event.
Where should we park?
There is a Game Day parking guide from the university linked above. There are shuttles provided by Blacksburg Transit between remote parking and Lane Stadium.
Who is lunch provided for?
Lunch will be provided for all MV For a Day student participants. There are many food options in downtown Blacksburg and concessions in the stadium for parents and guests.
What can parents and guests do during rehearsal?
Parents and guests are more than welcome to watch rehearsal but are also free to walk around and explore our beautiful campus during this time!
My child usually plays in a front ensemble or pit. How can they participate?
The Marching Virginians do not have a front ensemble, so your student is encouraged to bring crash cymbals to join our drum line on the field!
