Bringing energy, music, and pride throughout Lane Stadium, the roaming pep band gives excited Hokie fans the unique opportunity to see and hear the Spirit of Tech up close after half-time. They showcase classics such as V-Tag and perform stand tunes just feet away from audience members in hopes of making them smile.

An ensemble comprised of only a few from each section that changes performers for every game, roaming pep band is a special chance for MVs to interact with football fans during 3rd quarter. From the perspective of other MVs, here’s why the roaming pep band is important to football games:

My experience with roaming pep band has been awesome! I really like that we get to interact with a part of the stadium that we don't normally get to interact with! I think the roaming pep band is an integral part of the football games because getting to see people’s faces when we play V-Tag right in front of them is so awesome! When people chant H-O-K-I-E-S HOKIES it makes me feel so happy! – Ryan Adcock, Trumpet

We make our way around Lane Stadium, alternating between playing V-tag in the stands and playing longer stand tunes like My Type and Can’t Stop the Feeling in the concourse. Even though having to carry my bass around Lane right after halftime does get super tiring, seeing how excited everyone gets when we stop by makes it all worthwhile. – Daniel Agunias, Bass Drum

I think the roaming pep band is so important during football games because it helps bring that MV spirit to the stadium. The pep band carries the music of the MVs from our stands, all throughout Lane. I can’t wait for my turn to do the roaming pep band. The MVs are something I’m proud to be a part of every single day. – Jordan Downing, Piccolo

The VT vs. UNC game was my first time in roaming pep band! We had a couple fans who really loved us and thanked us repeatedly for what we bring to the games. I think it’s important because the roaming pep band plays for parts of Lane that may not be close enough to north endzone to experience our energy. The roaming pep band is kind of a personal concert for a couple lucky sections. – Evan Fox, Tone

I really loved being part of the roaming pep band, it was such a cool experience! It was cool to go around as a smaller group and to be better able to see people’s reactions close up. I hope I get to do it again before the end of the season! – Paige Dinneny, Flag Corps

I think the roaming pep band is important because it brings the MVs to the fans. Being able to bring the sound to the fans is special. As for what it does for the band, it gives members a chance to experience gameday in other sections of the stadium, which is something we usually don’t get to do. – Nick Ramy, Drum Major
