Since their creation in 1974, The Marching Virginians have performed for hundreds of nationally televised football games and parades. To see our current performance schedule, please visit our Schedule page.
Members of The Marching Virginians include students from all walks of life and majors across the university. Competitive auditions are open to all Virginia Tech students - even graduate students. If you’d like to know more about the MV experience, make sure to check out our blog: Marching with the Virginians. To learn more about how you can become a member of The Marching Virginians, please visit our Join the Band section.
In addition to a demanding schedule of performances throughout the football season, The Marching Virginians are the model of Ut Prosim - serving others through our annual Hokies for the Hungry canned food drives, two collaborative hurricane relief trips to New Orleans, blood drives, and performances and presentations for public school students throughout the region. In the spring of 2009, the Marching Virginians partnered with Community Housing Partners to build a home in honor of Ryan "Stack" Clark, a band member and victim of the 2007 campus shooting. The dedication, enthusiasm, and extraordinary talent of this ensemble have earned The Marching Virginians their reputation as a highly energetic and vocal part of Virginia Tech football and the Virginia Tech community. We are proud of our reputation with fellow students, faculty, and fans as The Spirit of Tech!
