Support Our Futures on Giving Day

As you know, Giving Day is an opportunity for all Virginia Tech students, fans, family, supporters, faculty and staff to come together and raise money for their favorite departments. For the MVs, this is a really special two days as it helps us purchase and repair instruments, provide apparel, and institute new technologies such as an official livestream set up so that parents, family, and friends can watch our rehearsals and performances beyond the COVID-19 era.

And since so many of our supporters enjoyed the telethon event we hosted this past fall semester to raise funds for Hokies4TheHungry, we are once again releasing beanies and ballcaps to random donors throughout the 24 hours of giving!

Last year, the MVS received 352 donations for a grand total of $22,593. We have consistently been rank #1 on the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences for years now, thanks to our wonderful alumni and supporters within the CLAHS department.

Each year, departments compete in donations to receive special bonuses. This year, our bonus challenges include the following:

  1. $5,000 from The Muscatello Family at 330 donations

  2. An additional $5,000 from The Muscatellos when our 330 donations grow to 500 donations

  3. $500 for the most donations in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences

  4. $500 for the most donations between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m EST on Wednesday

We understand that this has been a tough year financially. This is truly about the number of donations we get and the minimum amount to donate is $5.00. The number of donations will help us unlock these special gifts AND maintain our bragging rights!

Every donation, big and small, counts. During COVID-19, last year’s donations prepared us for the readjustment period in safety measures as many departments at Virginia Tech went through. Without your contributions, we as a band would not be where we are today or have performed under our safest capabilities together.

We ask that as Giving Day comes upon us quickly, to think about all of the MV Hokies and future marchers you are supporting. Let’s go Spirit of Tech!
